This thermostatic mixing valve is applicable in installations for solar, central heating wood stove or central heating. A potable water mixer is for your own safety - too hot water from the boiler is dangerous and costs unnecessary energy. In such installations as solar or solid fuel boilers, temperatures can rise considerably. In addition, too hot tap water is dangerous and can get you burned. This is why thermostatic mixing valves are often installed to mix the tap water back to around 60/65 degrees.

Also, most kitchen faucets and shower faucets cannot withstand temperatures above 80 degrees, the membranes may warp and therefore there is a chance that it will leak.
